Recommended Reading from Electric Literature

Electric Literature Recommended Reading App

The EL and 29th Street Publishing teams have launched a new app, Recommended Reading. You can download it for less than $1 and the first issue comes free. After that though you have to subscribe for either a month or a year.

While the subscription logistics don’t warm the cockles of my heart, I love the editorial side of the app. Each issue is a short story recommended by a contemporary literary fiction writer and comes with its own short animation — single sentence animation bank right here. The animation is based on the favourite sentence of the recommending author. It’s a nice idea and hopefully will be artfully executed. It could be a lovely way for authors to team up with their favourite illustrators.

The monies you fork out all go back in Electric Literature’s work to “ensure literary fiction remains a vibrant part of popular culture”. Hear, hear!
